Children’s Play Information Service

The Children’s Play Information Service (CPIS) is a national information service on children’s play, part of NCB’s Information Centre. Our extensive reference library covers most aspects of children’s play, including theory, research, policy and practice. Visitors are welcome by appointment, including groups of students and their tutors.

CPIS also provides a free enquiry service to anyone with a professional or academic interest in children’s play. If you need information or a literature search on a play topic you can contact them. It is based in Based in London (8 Wakley Street, London EC1V 7QE).

CPIS holds a specialist library and information resource providing information on all aspects of children’s play, focusing on school-age children. With a unique collection of information on children’s play that includes books, reports, pamphlets and journal articles. Specific areas covered include play theories, design, safety, policy and research.

It has a growing archival of materials and is trying to collate information on all play archives in England. www.ncb.org.uk/cpis/play-archives
